Michelle Obama Gave The National Zoo's Newborn Panda His Official Name Fun Love
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo held a ceremony with FLOTUS and the First Lady of the People’s Republic of China to announce the name.
The tiny little fella was born at the Smithsonian's National Zoo on August 22. He weighed just over 1 lb!

He and his mom, Mei Xiang, have been cuddling up all sweet ever since then.

Michelle Obama had the honorable job of selecting the baby panda's name, along with the First Lady of the People's Republic of China, Peng Liyuan.

Together they announced the name with help from students who attend the Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School.
